Creating great brand design is essential for any business in the modern world.
A great brand design can help a business stand out from its competitors and build a loyal customer base. But what are the must-haves of great brand design?
Consistent but flexible branding
First and foremost, a great brand design must have a clear and unique brand identity. This means the design should accurately reflect the business’s mission and values. It should also be visually appealing and eye-catching.
The brand identity should be consistent across all platforms, from the logo to the website to advertising materials. This will help customers recognise and remember the business.
The design should be flexible to easily adapt to different platforms, such as social media, websites, and print materials.
Memorable branding
The design should be able to quickly and easily be associated with the business and its products. The design should be distinctive, memorable and recognizable to stand out from similar brands.
A great brand design should create an emotional connection with customers. The design should evoke a certain feeling or emotion, such as trustworthiness, reliability, or fun. This emotional connection helps build a strong relationship between the business and its customers. A unique brand helps them stand out from their competitors and build a loyal customer base.
Timeless branding design
The design should be able to stand the test of time, i.e. be timeless, and still look relevant even years later. This will help create a lasting impression on customers. The best way to do so is by not jumping on to trends when it comes to certain styles of logos.
Have you seen the new Twitter Blue logo?
I do not even know where to begin, so I will quote the Fast Company here: "Elon Musk’s new Twitter Blue logo is perfectly awful. The ’80s throwback logo is shiny, poorly kerned, and barely legible. But it’s also an accurate representation of what Twitter has become." Well, at least the logo is memorable...! But for all the wrong reasons. It is neither flexible nor timeless. See for yourself.
In conclusion, great brand design is essential for any business in the modern world. A great brand design should have a clear and unique brand identity, be memorable, evoke an emotional connection with customers, be flexible, and be timeless.
Tip nugget
Always get a second - or third - or fourth - opinion on a logo before you launch it.
